Following the deadly fire tragedy at the SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar, a social activist of Cuttack on Wednesday moved the Orissa High Court through a PIl seeking judicial intervention to have a fire safety audit of all high-rise commercial establishments in the State.
"The petitioner has urged that the respondents should ensure proper firefighting measures at the commercial establishments like
flats, shopping malls, hotels, cinema theatres, marriage mandaps, community halls and hospitals and
nursing homes," said the petitioner's laswyer Arun Kumar Budhia.
The petition has, however, not been listed for hearing, Budhia said, adding that it may come up for hearing next week.
