PIL filed over K'kote College teacher vacancies

Lawyer and Congress leader Pitabasa Panda has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court over vacancies in the Lecturer posts in the Khallikote Autonomous College.

In the PIL, Panda has requested the court to direct the State Government to fill up all vacant Lecturer posts and ensure a favourable educational atmosphere. He appraised the court that the Government has not taken any action despite repeated requests to fill up vacancies.

While the college has 88 sanctioned teaching posts, only 26 Lecturers are presently engaged in the teaching process. The college has no Professors now even though it has 11 sanctioned posts.

Ironically, the Economics, Hindi, Statistics and Telugu Departments are running without a single Lecturer, pointed out Panda, who is also the president of Old Students' Association of the college.Lawyer Siddharth Das is appearing in the case on behalf of Panda in the High Court.
