Orissa High Court advocate Bibhuti Charan Mohanty has moved the HC through a PIl seeking a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the four-year-old boy of Puri town who was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs on Thursday.

Arraigning as many as six respondents, including the CentrAl RDC, Mohanty in his petition has urged the High Court to intervene in checking the growing population of stray dogs in the temple town of Puri.

“Stray dog menace in Puri is now beyond control and the local civic body is not taking any measures to check it,” Mohanty alleged. He said the PIl is likely to come up for hearing next week.
