The United Citizens’ Forum of Phulbani on Wednesday protested against the imposition of holding tax. In view of the district administration’s ongoing hearing of the complaint against the holding tax on August 17, 18 and 19, addressing a Press conference here forum coordinator Ashok Parida told the people not to appear before the court of Sub-Collector for hearing and demanded that the hearing be postponed.
He further stated that the holding tax system would be decided by new elected body of municipal council after urban elections. Former Phulbani Municipality Chairman KK Pandey and Pratap Patra also opposed holding tax. When municipality is unable to provide proper water, proper drainage system, lights, roads, etc., how they charge such high tax, asked forum leaders.
