Section-6 Provident Fund (PF) Supervisor of Rourkela office Purushottam Mohanty was caught red-hand by CBI personnel while he was taking bribe of Rs 1,000 from a former hotel worker, Manoj Kumar Sahoo, here on Tuesday.
According to sources, Sahoo was working in a hotel at Sambalpur. After leaving the job, he has been running to the PF office at Rourkela to get his PF deposits.
Despite his running several times he failed to get his dues; rather Mohanty claimed Rs 2,000 to get his work done. Though Sahoo pleaded that he is a poor man, Mohanty remained rigid and demanded at least Rs 1,000.
Having no other way, Sahoo contacted the local CBI office. While Mohanty was taking the amount from Sahoo, the CBI sleuths under the leadership of DSP Deepak Kabi trapped him. According to the CBI, Mohanty will be produced in CBI court, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
