Petitioner slams NHRC for not hearing case

Rights activist and Supreme Court lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy has expressed deep concern as the National Human Rights Commission’s two-day camp sitting here did not take up the issue of one minor blind girl who was raped and murdered brutally last year in Beladala in Puri.

“The NHRC’s camp sitting concluded here with the single bench Member disposing many cases. However, in the case, a 15-year-old blind girl student, who was raped and murdered after

a rod was forced into her private part, the apex human rights watchdog of the country closed its eyes,” alleged Tripathy who has submitted a petition at the commission in the case.

According to him two separate petitions were filed for ensuring justice to the deceased and her family.

“While the first one was closed simply saying the police has filed a case in the court and the matter is sub judice, in the second case when I reiterated the gravity of brutality the NHRC asked me to submit rejoinder,” alleged the petitioner.

The miscreants on May 6 last year raped the victim, daughter of Gouranga Padra of Beladala in Puri district and murdered her.

“The accused pierced iron rod into the private part of the victim, a minor blind girl student after raping her brutally. The situation is worse than that of December16 episode of Delhi,” said the petitioenr.
