Holding CBI Director AK Sinha responsible for the tardy progress in the chit fund scam probe in the State, petitioner in the Odisha chit fund scam case in the Supreme Court Alok Jena on Monday dared Sinha to give him an appointment to discuss about the case. In a letter to the CBI Director Jena said, “After you joined as CBI Director the investigation into the mega chit fund scam in Odisha has been mysteriously halted and ultimately you are the sole responsible for this.”

“I have met almost all the officials of the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and discussed and supplied vital information with them. But you are not giving me appointment when you were the CBI Special Director and after becoming CBI Director,” stated Jena in the letter. Jena said, “The probe into the case by the SIT constituted under the leadership of Rajiv Singh has came to an grinding halt since last four months resulting in harm to the interest of the lakh of poor and gullible investors. Hence, there is an urgent need for expediting the probe to ensure proper and effective investigation and restore confidence in the public mind.”

Jena also urged the CBI Director to interrogate Odisha Crime Branch ADG and other top bureaucrats and politicians for their alleged involvement in the mega scam. He also alleged that SIT chief Rajiv Singh has a close relationship with Odisha Crime Branch ADG. “Though the Bhubaneswar CBI SP has been writing higher authorities to change the present lawyers as they have personal and other relations with the chit fund accused, nothing tangible has happened as yet. I, therefore, pray for looking into the aforementioned aspects and restore the confidence of the poor and gullible investors of Odisha,” said Jena.
