Wife of a temporary peon on Monday alleged that Athagarh Sub-Collector Harish Chandra Nayak had abused her and her two daughters several times.
Peon Dhruba Mohanty’s wife Pranati lodged a written complaint at the Athagarh police station in this regard. According to her, the Sub-Collector had ill-treated her and her two daughters in his quarter several times while they were serving foods to him. Though the news has shocked people in the region, yet many are not ready to buy Pranati’s complaint, suspecting it as fabricated.
According to report, Dhruba had been working as a temporary cook in for subsequent Sub-Collectors for the last 18 years. Though he had been urging Sub-Collectors to regularise his job, it is yet to be done.
He also appealed to the incumbent Sub-Collector, who is in the post for around seven months now, in this regard. Nayak had been taking foods prepared by Dhruba and his wife. But a month back, Nayak ordered Dhruba to vacate the quarter located in the residential campus of the Sub-Collector. To which, Dhruba had sought time citing that his children were appearing at examinations. On Monday, Nayak warned Dhruba to vacate the quarter.
The Sub-Collector declined to say anything about the allegation, except terming it as vindictive step by Dhruba.
