In a daring broad daylight robbery, armed miscreants looted Rs 3.93 lakh from a Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) at gunpoint on the Dapala road under the Manmunda police station in the district on Friday.
Lamseri Panchayat office PEO Bipul Dash, was on his way to Lamseri from Manamunda in a van carrying the cash, which was to be distributed among pensioner. But on the way, five motorbike borne miscreants intercepted the vehicle and terrorised Dash by brandishing guns.
Then they snatched the bag containing the cash from his possession and sped away from the spot.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim, the Manamunda police have started investigation into the incident to identify and trace the robbers.
