Angul district Collector Siddhartha Sankar Swain on Friday suspended Pechamundi Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Promod Sahoo on charges of misappropriating Government money and dereliction of duty.
Sources said Government funds of Rs 10 lakh had been deposited in GP pass book for construction of a Kalyan Mandap. However, Sahoo in connivance with Sarpanch Anita Naik fraudulently withdrew all money, leaving Rs 3,600 only in account.
Some locals lodged a complaint at BDO office. Subsequently, ABDO Salila Das investigated matter. During course of investigation, many other irregularities also were marked by team.
