The Joda police have arrested and court-forwarded Ariyan Steel logistics head Sanjay Pandey in connection with the theft of iron pellets of the plant.
Sources said the Ariyan Steel plant has a stockyard near the Banspani railway siding, where materials being transported from the factory are dumped for the purpose of dispatching the materials to different places.
But dishonest employees of the company in connivance with some youths of Joda indulged in theft of the pellets.
Their mode of operation: Instead of transporting the materials to the company's stockyard, the culprits were dumping the materials in other places and getting the materials as falsely received from dishonest employees and selling it to other parties. This theft racket was causing not only loss to the company but revenue loss to the Government.
In this regard, the Joda police had already arrested the security guard, the stockyard in-charge of the company, husband of Barbil Municipality Vice-Chairperson, said to be the brain behind the racket.
Sanjay had been absconding and was successful in getting a stay order from the High Court in his
favour. But the Joda police cleverly arrested him in a similar case in which he was involved.
