PCC, YC chiefs in trouble over K'jhar violence

Cases have been filed against PCC president Jayadev Jena and his son Sangram Jena, who is the State Youth Congress president, for creating violence in Hatadihi block during the State-wide civil disobedience agitation of the Congress on Wednesday.

During the demonstration of party workers outside the block office, Jayadev Jena and other party leaders had addressed the gathering after which party workers ransacked the block office, destroyed office furniture and set fire to the files.

A case was registered by the block authorities at the Nandipada police station against Jayadev Jena, PCC vice-president Kailas Acharya and secretary Sitakanta Mishra, Sangram Jena, senior leader Alekh Mallik and others for instigating the party workers for such incidents.

The party workers had reached the block office with a massive rally, and after a street corner meeting forcibly entered the office of the Additional Tehsildar and damaged all furniture. The doors, windows and other articles were set on fire while the office staff fled from their seats to safety.

PCC chief Jena has, however, denied his involvement in the violence and claimed his ignorance about the incident. The police have arrested two persons in the case and are in search for the other accused.
