Alleging misuse of Government machinery by his BJD rival, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Sivananda Ray on Tuesday demanded that re-election be conducted to the Ekamra-Bhubaneswar Assembly constituency soon.
Addressing a Press conference here, Ray alleged that his campaigning was severely disrupted as police flying squads took away his banners, posters and hoardings a day before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik campaigned for the BJD candidate. He also alleged that the police demolished his office opened at the Badhei Banka Chhak a day before the car festival of lord lingaraj. He further alleged that police personnel distributed money, which was quite illegal.
Stating that no action has been taken against his complaints, Ray said a re-election would only give fair results. He also demanded action against the erring Government officials.
