PCC serves show-cause to 3 leaders

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Friday issued show-cause notices to three senior party leaders for their statements against OPCC president Prasad Harischandan and Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad recently.

OPCC Disciplinary Committee chairperson Sandhya Mahapatra issued the notices to Talsara MlA Prafulla Majhi, Jeypore MlA Tara Prasad Bahinpati and former Rajya Sabha member Ananta Prasad Sethi as to why action would not be taken against them.

Notably, after the resignation of Hariprasad citing the poor performance in the panchayat elections, the three leaders had said to the media that he should have resigned earlier. They also said the OPPC president too should resign on moral grounds owning responsibility for the party’s debacle in the rural polls.

However, Bahinpati said he has done no wrong. He is not the kind of person to indulge in any kind of indiscipline. He does not know who Sandhya Mahapatra is. When he receives the notice, he would give an appropriate reply.

Majhi also said that whatever he had stated was in the interest of the party.

However, the developments have again brought to limelight the bitter internal bickering in the party among various factions, said political observers.
