Pradesh Congress Committee president Jayadev Jena on Friday demanded a CBI probe into the Ghangapatna land grab case as well as into the scam relating to land and plot allotment under the discretionary quota. Addressing a Press conference here, Jena said the BJD Government’s illegalities are gradually being exposed as the CBI is unearthing the alleged roles of ruling party leaders in the chit fund scam.
“The State Government had engaged top lawyers in the Supreme Court to oppose a CBI probe into the chit fund scam in an attempt to protect BJD men. The Crime Branch was acting like a shield for the tainted ruling party leaders,” Jena said, alleging that the Chief Minister himself is involved in the scam and allowed his party people to loot the hard-earned money of the common people.
He further alleged that the Chief Minister can’t wash away his link with the Seashore Group as his Government has inked several agreements and he himself had attended a host of programmes organised by the company.
Commenting on Ghangapatna land grab case, Jena said the CM has remained silent as ‘Dhritarastra’ in Mahabharat. “The Crime Branch inquiry can never disclose the Ghangapatna land scam as many influential persons are involved in the scam. The Chief Minister, who claims to be clean, has remained silent over the issue acting as ‘Dhritarastra’ and allowing rampant corruptions to occur in State,” Jena said and demanded a CBI inquiry into all the lands/plots allotted under the discretionary quota in all the cities of the State.
Jena also wanted that the State BJP come clean on the corruption charges as it was an ally in the Government for ten years till 2009.
