A patient cut a vein of his wrist and committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Bijay Behera (21) alias Tuna of Mahulakhola village under the Gondia police limits in the district.
Tuna had been admitted to the Deogaon Primary Health Centre (PHC) after falling sick due to sunstroke on Thursday. He was later shifted to the DHH. At 8.30 am, he went to the sixth floor of the hospital on the pretext of using the washroom. However, he cut wrist vein and jumped off the building.
The Dhenkanal Town police have started an investigation into the incident.
