A patient among three persons were killed while three others suffered grievous injuries when an ambulance hit a truck near the Bandalo tollgate under the Tangi police limits in Cuttack district on Saturday.
The tragedy occurred in the wee hours when the ambulance carrying a patient along with five others from West Bengal hit the stationary container truck on NH near the tollgate. While one died on the spot, five other occupants were critically injured. On receiving information, police and fire personnel rushed to the spot for a rescue operation.
They later sent the injured to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. Later, two of them succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The three deceased included the patient and the ambulance driver, source said.
