In a shocking incident, a body of a man, who had been admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here a couple of days ago, was found in a drain in the hospital premises on Friday.
Ananta Rout, a resident of Pitatalli village under Chikiti block in the district, had been admitted to the hospital after he suffered from high blood pressure. He was being attended by his wife and was undergoing treatment in the PMR building and was supposed to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
When Rout’s wife woke up in the wee hours, she was shocked to find her husband was not in bed. His wife frantically tried to search for him in the hospital premises. Failing to locate him, she informed some of her relatives and sought their help, sources said.
The relatives again carried out an intensive search and later found Rout’s blood stained body in a drain behind the PMR building. There were multiple injuries on the body and the head.
His family members suspected that he was brutally attacked and later his body was dumped in the drain. Later, a complaint was lodged by them at the MKCG police outpost. However, the incident has sent shockwaves in the city and residents have questioned the security measures in the hospital premises.
