Sasmita Mahanta, Panchayat Executive Officer, Kendeiposi GP, Patana Block in Keonjhar district, was arrested by Vigilance officers for accepting bribe of Rs2,000 on Friday.
She had demanded the bribe from one Chatrubhuja Mahanta of Khuntapada under the Turumunga PS for providing and fitting of head and pipe of a tube-well, which was sanctioned for installation in his village.
A trap was laid and Sasmita Mahanta was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from complainant Chatrubhuja Mahanta in the GP office room.
