The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) employees embarked on a three-day strike across the State starting from Tuesday.
The employees are pressing for fulfillment of a four-point charter of demands including regularisation of the jobs of contractual employees.
The other demands of the OSRTC employees include same wage for same work and hike in salary as per the 7th Pay Commission.
Due to the strike, around 600 OSRTC buses stayed off roads across the State leaving passengers stranded at the bus stands at many places. Sources said around 60 buses plying from Badambadi in Cuttack to different places in the State remained off road due to the protest.
The cease-work strike has also affected communications in Koraput and other Maoist affected districts like Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati as the people largely depend on the Government-run buses for transportation.
As part of the protest, the agitating employees of OSRTC are holding demonstrations at various places throughout the State.
