As situation in the cyclone and flood-affected areas is slowly limping back to normality, Odisha Government on Wednesday decided to bid adieu to the Defence personnel and NDRF forces which were deployed in rescue and relief operations in the State.

The Central forces had landed here on October 12 midnight by a C-17 aircraft, when killer Phailin was roaring and wrecking havoc in coastal areas, particularly Ganjam. They were rushed to Gopalpur. They toiled hard for five days to save lives and properties and rescue people from hazardous places.

At a high-level review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, the Government expressed its gratitude to the Army, Navy and Air Force personnel and the NDRF forces coming from Patna and other places for their commendable cooperation in the rescue and relief operations.
