Parjang block office ransacked by BJP workers

Published on:

Tension prevailed in the Parjang block office in the district, after BJP activists went on rampage on Thursday alleging large-scale irregularities in implementation of Government welfare schemes.

The BJP workers barged into the office and vandalised properties alleging corruption in Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna, shortage of doctors in hospitals and misuse of Government machinery by ruling BJD party leaders in the area.

“There is rampant corruption at block level. The police are targeting BJP supporters intentionally and harassing them,” alleged former BJP MP Rudra Narayan Pani.

“Furniture, ACs, fans, computers window panes, and other properties at the block office were smashed by the protetors,” said Parjang BDO Basant Mallick.

A rally was earlier organised by BJP activists from Parjang Haat to the block office protesting poor implementation of several welfare schemes and corruption in the block.

In view of the prevailing tension, adequate police force has been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent the situation from worsening further.
