The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recovered a blood-stained towel from the house of the Pari rape and murder case prime accused Saroj Sethy in Nayagarh district, said police sources on Wednesday.
Arrested Saroj reportedly revealed before the IPS officer Arun Bothra-led SIT that the minor girl had nosebleed while Saroj strangulated her to death. The accused then wiped off the blood using his towel.
Based on the information provided by Saroj, the SIT seized the towel from his house at Jadupur village in the district. The sources further stated that experts have confirmed the blood stain on the towel. For further investigation, the towel would be sent to a laboratory.
Meanwhile, Bothra visited Jadupur on Wednesday and ascertained from an SIT team that Pari’s leggings, which Saroj had thrown to a pond, had been traced late on Tuesday night.
Also meanwhile, Minister and Nayagarh MLA Arun Sahoo on Wednesday broke his silence on the Pari issue saying that he prays to “God and all others” for justice to the girl.
He also hoped that the truth in the case would be unveiled.
Notably, the BJP continues alleging that the SIT has purposefully arrested Saroj Sethy as a conspiracy to save Arun Sahoo, who is “shielding” the real accused Babuli Nayak, who is a close aide of Sahoo.
