Pari case: SIT probe begins in Nayagarh

Published on:

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the State Government to probe into the abduction and murder of five-year-old girl Pari in Nayagarh district initiated its investigation when it visited deceased’s village Jadupur on Tuesday.

The SIT led by IPS officer Arun Bothra is most likely to meet the family members of the girl and ask them about the incident and visit the spot where the girl’s decomposed body packed in a sack was dumped. Bothra held discussion with the Nayagarh SP and other police officials at the Circuit House before proceeding to Jadupur. In another related development on the day, a BJP delegation met the Governor’s Principal Secretary Pramod Meherda at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and submitted a memorandum seeking intervention of the Governor for a fair probe into the Pari case.

Notably, Pari’s father Ashok Sahoo and mother Saudamini had on November 24 attempted self-immolation outside the State Assembly demanding justice for their daughter.

Alleging police inaction in the case, the couple accused Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo of shielding Babuli Nayak, the accused in the case.
