'Paresh never worked as school principal'

The beleaguered Paresh Mohapatra, who was arrested in connection with the lady teacher Alakananda Mishra murder case, now finds himself in deeper trouble. After spurned by family members, Mohapatra is now also being disowned by the school management, where he claimed to be working as a principal.

Displeased over the anguish and concern expressed by the parents of St Xavier’s School students here, the school authorities on Saturday asserted that Mohapatra did not work as a Principal of the school. They also claimed that deceased Alakananda also never worked as a teacher of the school.

“Pareshbabu joined the school as an administrator in 2011 and in 2012 when we began a new school under CBSE affiliation, he was given ad hoc appointment as a coordinator of it and was kept under observation for two years,” said a management member of the school, Subrat Jena.

Jena, however, admitted that Alakananda took a single orientation class of the teachers of the new school in 2012 which was arranged entirely by Paresh Mohapatra without the knowledge of the school authorities. “Alakananda Mishra was not in the pay-roll of the school,” Jena asserted. It may be mentioned that Mohapatra along with four of his associates were arrested earlier this week in connection with the murder of Alakananda on July 29. Mohapatra and his associates had disposed of the body by burning it in a crematorium here secretly.

Meanwhile, the city police on Saturday arrested one Chintu Munda in connection with the case who was detained and interrogated since Friday.
