The hike in 12th CBSE examination fees by two times from \Rs 750 to Rs 1,500 for general category students and 24 times from Rs 50 to Rs 1,200 for SC and ST students was protested by the All India Parents’ Association here on Monday.
Association State branch president Pradip Nayak, general secretary Surendra Das, vice president Nihar Ranjan Samal, Jajati Sahu and Yudhisthir Behera in a Press release have condemned the move and demanded an immediate rollback of the decision by the CBSE.
While the BJP got 38 out of 48 reserved seats in the country in the general elections, the fee hike for the SC and ST students is a sheer mockery of the faith of the electorate have reposed on the party, they said.
The association alleged that by hiking the fees in the CBSE affiliated English medium schools where the parents are sending their wards by spending a huge amount of money, the Government has played with the future of the students.
“It is loot of the pocket of the parents who are preferring the English medium schools as the standard of the State run schools has gone low. The Government is sitting mum over frequent hikes in tuition and other fees in the English medium schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas, which would be protested ahead,” warned the parents association.
