Paralytic old man, wife beg to eat

Jagdish Seth (63) of Gandabahal village in Ullunda block leads a wretched life deprived of welfare schemes of the Government meant to improve the living conditions of the infirm and poor.

To make matters worse, Jagdish is unable to walk properly.

Despite having paralysis, he is not able to afford the cost of the treatment of any disease and crawls his way to nearby areas where he begs to eke out a living.

For some days, he and his wife are forced to go to bed empty stomach when people around them refuse to be generous.

He is only getting 5 kg rice per month under the PDS from Government.

Contacted, Ullunda BDO Bijaya Kumar Sai said he was unaware of the plight of the Seth and promised that immediate action would be taken to include Jagdish under old age pension, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and treatment facility of his disease to them. Meanwhile, the locals sympathised with the elderly man and demanded the administration to take note of their plight and provide them a house and pension.
