Paralakhemundi Congress MlA K Surya Rao on Tuesday said he along with his party leaders would stage a hunger strike here on October 13 in protest against the alleged irregularities in the issuance of Food Security ration cards in Gajapati district.
The MlA said this at a Press conference held at the Congress office here.
He alleged that the list of Food security Cards issued by the Civil Supply office, Gajapati has not been prepared as per norms and guidelines issued by the Union Government under the National Food Security Act. “The names of some of very poor and eligible beneficiaries are not found in the list. But names of many rich and ineligible persons have been included. And the list has been knowingly shortened compared to the old one,” he alleged.
The MlA said he along with Gajapati Congress committee members, A Jaimini Rao, Basanta Kumar Panda, Gurudadhwaja Choudhury, Sudhi Ranjan Mohapatra and others would stage a relay hunger strike at the High School Junction here from 6 am to 6 pm on October 13.
