Paradip TUs decry Major Port Act

Published on:

A collective of 10 trade unions on Wednesday staged a demonstration before the Paradip Port Administrative Building and observed a ‘black day’ wearing black badges in protest against the Union Government’s attempt to implement the Major Port Authority Act 2021.

Leaders of the trade unions decried the new law and stated that despite repeated denouncements from the trade unions, the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre seems to be in no mood to relent.

“We have urged the Union Government to stop implementation of the Act; otherwise, trade unions will continue their protests,” said trade unionist Ullasa Swain.

Later, representatives of the trade unions met PPT Chairman PL Harnadh and submitted a memorandum to him.
