Paradip truckers seek increased port unloading capacity

Published on:

The Paradip Truck Owners’ Association recently organised a Press meet here and demanded that the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) take steps for increasing the unloading capacity of the port of 2,000 trucks per day.

Association leaders said the NH (5A) plays an important role in transporting iron ore, but due to the rush and the roughness of the road, it has transformed into a deathtrap as the ore-laden trucks are stranded on it due to an inadequate unloading capacity at the port.

Association president Sumant Kumar Biswal demanded a ban on collection of parking fee and setting up of a modern parking yard with a capacity of 5,000 trucks, erection of road dividers on the NH from Paradip to Kendrapada and setting up of a police station to conduct patrolling from Nilachal Bazar to Duhuria.
