As it has turned deathtrap due to potholes
Residents of the Brundaban colony and Madhuban and members of the Paradip Shiva Mandir Management Committee recently urged the Paradip Port Trust and the Paradip Municipality authorities to repair the road from the Shiva Mandir to the Madhuban Colony soon.
The temple, known as the Gopaljew Shiva Mandir, is located at the Brundaban Colony junction. A dock recreation club-cum-kalyana mandap and a multipurpose cyclone shelter are also there near the temple. On various social and religious programmes, which take place most of the times, thousands of motor vehicles run on the road apart from plying of hundreds of local vehicles daily.
Besides, the PHD section of the PPT, the pump house and the Nishamani Bhaban, a trade union office, are also situated on both sides of the road, which is in a dilapidated condition.
The schoolchildren and the Kaudia revellers, who visit the temple in thousands, are the worst sufferers. During this rainy season, most of them get injured as they put their legs unknowingly in the potholes. The road, with water-filled two-foot-deep potholes at most of the places, has turned to be death trap for users of the road.
“Neither the PPT nor the Municipality authorities are concerned about the condition of the road which has gone bad to worse in the last three years.
Hence we demand that the authorities repair the road soon,” said a Press release undersigned by Gopaljew Shiv Temple chief advisor Premananda Beuria (Prem Baba), president Dwarikanath Swain and members Chhaila Dalai, Rabindra lenka, Rsidhar Pradhan, Bikram Swain, Kailash Sundara, Niranjan Sahoo, Niranjan Sethi and Nakula Paikaray.
