The Paradip Port Trust would soon launch a Covid Care Centre (CCC) at the Port Club here to provide healthcare to suspected Covid-infected employees of the port. The work for the CCC is going on in full swing. While the PPT has taken such a decision a few days after the State Government asked the corporates to make their own Covid Care Centers (CCC), some people having vested interest are now spreading misinformation that the Cente would infect the local populace.
However, educated people have decried the rumour. At the CCC, there would be six feet gap between two beds to prevent the spread of the infection. The patients would be provided with the facemask.
Even as home isolation for mild/asymptomatic cases is recommended, a separate room with toilet facility is unavailable in most of the houses in Port Township. Besides, there are four to six quarters in a building. If a mild-asymptomatic Covid patient remains in home isolation in such structures, other families might get infected. Thus, a CCC is being erected to provide better facilities to patients.
“The windows of the rooms will mostly remain closed due to air conditioning. There are mosquito nets available in the windows. Residential colony is located several meters away from the Club (about 100 meters). Port Club has its own boundary wall. As per the guidelines of day, all are required to cover their nose and face while out of their houses. The biomedical waste will be safely disposed in adherence to the Biomedical Waste Management Act. Therefore, the viral infection from the facility can’t spread to the commuters,” said the PPT.
It said people interested to go to the stadium can take alternate routes to avoid Port Club, if they have any fear.
Many learned people have criticised the rumour mongers.
