Paradip murder: A week on, cops still in dark

Published on:

Even though more than a week has passed since the coldblooded murder of  Seaways Shipping and logistics Private limited Manager Mahendra Swain, the police are still clueless and yet to get a breakthrough.

Notably, Swain was murdered on October 27 in broad daylight while he was on his way to his office from home.

Meanwhile, the Utkal Stevedores’ Association at an emergency meeting at Paradip on Wednesday expressed unhappiness over the tardy police probe and demanded to expedite the investigation.

The association members observed two minutes silence at the meeting in memory of late Swain.  They said though the deceased manager had asked for police security following threat of his life, the cops failed in providing protection to him.

As a consequence he came in the line of enemy fire and murdered. The meeting extended thanks to the Seaways Company which has promised to give financial assistance to the deceased manager’s kin and bear study expenses of his daughter.

However, the police are reluctant to divulge any information regarding their investigation. However, district Superintendent of Police Jay Narayan Pankaj said the probe has reached the final stages and they are interrogating few suspects, allegedly involved in the murder.

The results of the probe would be disclosed in couple of days, assured the SP.
