Paradip MEG project: Pradhan flags off equipments

Published on:

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday flagged off critical equipments from Hazira  for Indian Oil’s MEG (Mono Ethylene Glycol) plant at Paradip. With delivery of this consignment, the Paradip MEG project would be taking a significant stride towards commissioning which is all set to play a crucial role in economic development of Odisha.

Pradhan said this is a significant step towards realising the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission and ‘Make in India’ movement. In line with this, a 357 KTA MEG project is expected to be commissioned in October 2021 at Indian Oil’s Paradip refinery with an investment of Rs 5,654 crore. He further said MEG demand is driven by demand from textile, garments and packaging industries, and as on date, India is a net importer of MEG.  The entire production from  upcoming MEG plant at Paradip is expected to be consumed domestically and would reduce the imports, which is again a step in direction of ‘Ätmanirbhar Bharat’.
