Paradip handles yet another cape size ship

Published on:

The Paradip Port added yet another feather to its cap by successfully docking MV Mineral Honshu, a cape size vessel with 1,17,983 MMT steam coal  at the Central Quay (CQ)-1 on Friday. The vessel has loaded the cargo for its importer NTPC at the Richards Bay Port of South Africa and will discharge it at Paradip.

It is a matter of great achievement for the Paradip Port since the first cape size vessel docked in the Inner Harbour of the port a mere 18 days ago.

PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy on Saturday felicitated the captain along with other crew members of the ship in the presence of PPT Deputy Chairman N Vaiyapuri, Traffic Manger SK Mishra, Harbour Master AK Mohapatra and other senior traffic officials.

The Paradip Port is now gearing up to handle cape size vessels regularly in the harbour to enhance the cargo throughput as it is vying for the coveted top position among Major Ports in the country with a slew of other infrastructure development and modernisation facilities.
