Noted trade union leader Santosh Kumar Pattanaik was made the president of Kujang Farmers’ Association.
On occasion of Akshya Tritiya, at a farmers meet at Kujang, outgoing president Goura Mohan Sahoo handed over the responsibility to Pattanaik.
Sahoo told that 36 years ago, the then farmer leader and Santosh Pattanaik’s father late Bibhuti Bhusan Pattanaik had started the outfit.
Pattanaik said that though the Paradip farmers have given their land to various port and industrial units at throwaway prices, the companies are not giving importance to the farmers. He called for strengthening the farmers’ body.
Nishakar Muduli presided. Among others, Manindra Guru, Chinmaya Das, Pitambar Tarai, Ullash Behera, Dillip Behera, Padmalochan Dash, Baburam Choudhury, Baisab Chandra Pattanaik and Sudhansu Satapathy addreded to the farmers.
