Panic gripped many villages in Jajpur district after two members of a family died of suspected dengue on Friday in a private hospital in Cuttack.
The news of the death of Sukanti (42), wife of Gobinda Rout, and their daughter Bhagyashree (20) at Khandahada village within the Vyasaanagar municipality area due to suspected dengue has pressed panic button for the villagers and health officials. Both victims had been first admitted in the Government hospital at Jajpur Road on July 17 and were shifted to the hospital in Cuttack.
Additional District Medical Officer Dr Baishnaba Charan Sahoo and other doctors on Saturday visited the suspected dengue-affected village to take stock of the situation. “We collected blood samples of some persons. The disease is caused by stagnant water in the villages,” said Dr Sahoo.
