The fact-finding committee formed by the Higher Education Department, on Saturday submitted its final report recommending reforms in the evaluation of Plus Two papers, examination pattern, syllabus and management of examinations. The committee has also recommended action against the officials in charge of the management of the annual Plus Two examinations last year.

The three-member committee submitted the report to Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi, Secretary Gagan Kumar Dhal and senior officials of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) at the State Secretariat here. However, the department has not made it clear about the details of the report of the committee. The department had formed the committee to suggest reforms in the Plus Two evaluation and management of examinations following State-wide uproar over faulty evaluation of papers in the last year’s examinations.

The committee, in its interim report on November 19 last, had recommended to the CHSE to conduct a 50-mark OMR objective test in each subject in the first year and a 50-mark OMR objective test and a 50-mark subjective test in the second year. Besides, it had also recommended that like the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the CHSE should make similar provisions to provide question-answer booklet to students in the Plus Two examinations with each booklet having three to four sets.

Among others, the committee had also suggested practical examinations at the college level and installation of CCTVs in the examination management hubs where the question papers would be kept. “The department has received the final report of the committee which will be implemented from the next year after a thorough review,” said the Higher Education Minister.
