The prices of paneer and cottage cheese in the State capital city have been hiked by Bhubaneswar Milk Products Traders’ Association with effect from June 1, 2022.
The rate for paneer has been increased to Rs 250 per kg and that of cottage cheese to Rs 180 per kg.
Explaining its decision, the association said the traders were under financial pressure ever since the OMFED increased its milk price by Rs 2 per litre on April 21, for which its members were incurring loss of Rs 12 per kg of cottage cheese.
Besides, the hike in fuel prices has also led to increase in the cost of transportation of cheese from rural areas, the association said.
The new rates will be applicable at all sweets shops in the city.
