Panda demands ration card lists cancelled

New BJP State president Basanta Panda on Saturday demanded immediate cancellation of the digitised ration card lists prepared under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) citing that the cards were issued in favour of ruling BJD functionaries depriving eligible beneficiaries in violation of the Act.

“Digitised ration cards have been issued to undeserving people. MlAs, Mayors, Zilla Parishad office-bearers have all availed cards in their names fraudulently and against the NFSA guidelines. So, the State Government must cancel the ration card lists and go in for a fresh survey in a transparent way,” Panda told a Press conference here.

“No action has been initiated against the influential offenders. As per the NFSA guidelines, such lapses are punishable offences. We demand immediate arrest of all those involved in this fraud,” said Panda.

He informed that his party would launch a mass protest in villages across the State until all the eligible beneficiaries are given ration cards.

Panda also slammed the State Government’s claim on the `1-a-kg rice scheme and dared the BJD Government to disclose the Central Government’s contribution towards the scheme.

Citing that the Centre contributes `27.38 out of the total subsidy of `30.38 under the scheme, Panda alleged that the State Government is only taking undue credit for the scheme.

He also said he would focus on a four-point programme to highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare schemes, strengthening of the party organisations and making the anti-people activities of the State Government into a mass movement.
