Panama Papers under SIT scanner

The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT) on black money has sent notices to some persons, whose names have appeared in the Panama Papers list and they are deposing before the SIT in a phased manner. SIT Deputy Chairman and former Supreme Court Judge Arijit Pasayat disclosed about it while briefing the media men here on Wednesday after holding a meeting here at his residence.

“Names of more than 500 Indians have appeared in the list and about hundred of them have been issued with notices and they are appearing before the SIT,” Justice Pasayat said, adding that appropriate actions would be taken against those found guilty.

Taking a meeting of officials of several investigating agencies, Justice Pasayat suggested that every agency should share the information they have regarding doubtful monetary transactions of a suspect with the other agencies so as to effect a comprehensive investigation.
