In an embarrassment to the ruling BJD, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma on Wednesday submitted at the CBI office here his documents relating to his controversial Pajero vehicle allegedly gifted by the Artha Tatwa (AT) chit fund company to him.
Dasburma deputed one Gournag Charan Sahu, who is working at the Minister’s official residence, to submit the documents on Wednesday evening. The CBI, probing the mega chit fund scam in the State, had on April 4 summoned the Minister to submit details about the Pajero under Section 91 of CrPC.
Dasburma did not turn up on the ground he was in Koraput for some urgent work and sent Sahu to provide the details as sought by the investigating agency, sources said.
Dasburma said he was not asked to appear before the CBI personally. However, he admitted that he had submitted some documents regarding the Pajero SUV.
last month, former Brahmagiri MlA and senior Congress leader lalatendu Bidyadhar (lulu) Mohapatra had dragged Dasburma into controversy alleging that the Minister was gifted with a Pajero vehicle by Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradeep Sethy.
He had also shown a copy of the CBI chargesheet against the chit fund firm which named one ‘Sanjay Das Verma’ taking a Pajero from the company.
