The Artists’ Association of Odisha (AAO) organised a painting and photography exhibition at the lalit Kala Academy here in memory of late Byomkesh Mohanty.
The exhibition ‘Shradhanjali- 2015’ gave the city art enthusiasts an opportunity to experience a wide variety of art works including acrylic on canvas, metal works, sculptures, digital painting and mixed media etc.
The art show feature works of 74 painters and photographers. Acrylic work by Meenaketan Pattnaik was interesting, presenting Navakalebar. Pattachitra ‘Maharasa’ by Neelamadhab Sahoo was stunning.
The various hues used by the artist made the painting striking. Artist Nigamananda Swain’s acrylic work Brahmadaru was also equally arresting. A snap ‘waiting to be slaughtered’ by Swagat Swarup Sahoo showcased a group of goats waiting to be butchered. Another striking work in the gallery was ‘Pallibadhu’ by late Sashi Bhushan Rath showcasing a village woman with a water pot in her waist. Pakistan-based artist Aamir Khatri’ s mixed media work ‘Dead lives,’ Gokul Bihari Pattnaik’s work ‘Harvesting time’ were also attention grabbing. This year AAO conferred Prof Byomakesh Mohanty memorial award 2015 to noted contemporary sculptor Srichandan Samal and Upendra Maharathi memorial award to young artist Sthitapragyan Swain. The four-day exhibition concluded on Friday.
