Ace chess player Padmini Rout on Friday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning over her links with tainted chit fund firm Star Consultancy Services Private limited.
Padmini was questioned for around an hour by the ED sleuths. After coming out of the ED office, Padmini said she was earlier issued notice by the agency for appearance. However, she was unaware about it at that time but appeared before the ED on the day.
While the officials questioned her about her links with the chit fund firm, she reportedly replied that the firm was only her sponsor.
Notably, the ED had in April this year attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 83 lakh belonging to Star consultancy Services. The company owned by one Triveni Kumar Mohanty is alleged to have duped investors of crores of rupees in the State.
