The District-Level Procurement Committee meeting 2022-23 of Nuapada district was held on Monday. Planning and Coordination Minister Rajendra Dholakia along with Khariar MLA Adhiraj Maohan Panigarahi attended it and called for proper procurement of paddy. Panigarahi called upon the administration to take all related measures to keep the grain stored in the mandis. While 72 mandis are to be opened this year, the Odisha Cooperative Society and Women Self Help Groups will procure grain in all the mandis.

"This year, a target of 14 lakh 76,000 323 quintals of paddy has been fixed initially for procurement. The millers will supply 1 lakh 390 MT of rice against this," said District Civil Supplies Officer Prabhakar Patra. The meeting was attended by three farmer representatives, Jadumani Panigarahi, Manoj Sahu and Upendra Meher, along with district officials and millers. It was decided that procurement would start from December 30. The committee decided to take a decision on the demand for opening of a mandi in Liad village of Sinapali block.
