Kharif paddy procurement has not started in four blocks in Subarnapur district, stoking resentment among the farmers.
On November 10 last, the district paddy procurement committee had decided to start Kharif paddy procurement on November 25. It had been decided to procure paddy at 64 places through 13 centres and five RMC yards. The procurement has started in eight places under Dunguripali block and around 3,711.64 quintals have been procured. In 10 places of Binka block, around 8,140.54 quintals have been procured. But unfortunately, till today in the blocks of Tarbha, Birmaharajpur, Ullunda and Sonepur, the procurement has not started. Distress sale of paddy in these areas has started. locals have demanded immediate procurement of the paddy from these blocks.
