An emergency meeting of the farmers was held at Padampur on Monday under the chairmanship of farmer leader Banchhanidhi Nayak.
It was resolved that if all the farmers in Padampur sub-division do not receive insurance money and drought relief by June 12, then thousands of farmers of the locality will hold a protest rally in Padmapur on June 13.
Farmer leader Ashok Sahu said, “It is unfortunate that the Government has not provided any drought relief to farmers in Padampur sub-division, where all blocks were affected by drought during 2021 Kharif season. Despite several rounds of agitation earlier and repeated discussions with the authorities, the farmers have not got their insurance money yet. So, the agitating farmers would shut down all Government offices, banks and other institutions on June 13.”
