The Bharat Bandh on Monday in Paralakhemundi town brought untold miseries for the commuters at the bus-stand here as the activists of the Congress and Left parties held blockades and did not allow the vehicles to ply.
Consequently, buses, auto rickshaws, and other passenger vehicles were off the roads. Schools, colleges, shops, business establishments and private offices were also closed.
Congress leaders Tirupati Panigrahi and Paralakhemundi MLA K Surya Rao, from the Left parties, Janna Subash Rao, Bidyadhar Patra and Dandapani Rayat led the bandh. The bandh was also observed across Gajapati district.
