A herd of over 30 elephants blocked the Athagarh-Mundali road near the Dalakhai temple for about two hours on Tuesdayafternoon brining vehicular movement to a standstill.
The pachyderms came out of the Chandaka Forest crossing the waterway of the Mahanadi river near Kandarpur in quest of food and water. After an hour-long service by elephant trackers of the area, the animals went into the Sukasan Reserve Forest.
As different industries have been developed in the elephant corridor area, the pachyderms use highways for their passing at several times. However, the peasants of the area are worried a lot for the presence of these elephants as they can damage their crops and other farm produces.
