A good number of individuals, leaders of all political parties, and organisations have come to the rescue of VIMSAR Director Dr Aswini Pujahari at a time when there is a turmoil in this premier health institute over his ouster.
The PG students and junior doctors have launched a cease work crippling the health service of the medical college hospital.
However, the Director’s supporters met the mediapersons today to appraise the real state of affairs in the medical and the development taken place within a period of just 18 months.
Mission VIMSAR, Paschimanchal People’s Forum, Sachetan Sambalpur Nagarika Manch and many other important persons of the city on Tuesday addressed the media and presented the developmental activities in the medical. “The number of patients coming to the hospital has increased eight lakh during a year. It was only 3. 68 lakh on average during the previous years,” they said pointing out at the improved services of the MCH under the leadership of Dr Pujahari.
“There is absolutely no doubt that the strong administration of the Director has come in the way of the profit making motive of a few doctors and they are using PG students to go against him. Even some nursing homes are playing a role behind the scene,” said Sapan Mishra,
a frontline office bearer of Mission VIMSAR. He further alleged that the Director has cleared the appointment of 70 doctors in VIMSAR in senior posts. But the State Government is not relieving them for which they are unable to join. This shows the attitude f the Government towards VIMSAR, Mishra said further.
Even leader of Congress, BJP and BJD who recognize the efficiency of the Director threw their support behind DR Pujahari. Siddharth Das (BJD), Nauri Naik (BJP), Asaf Ali Khan (Congress), Golak Bihari Mishra and Bhakta Prasad Nanda sought an end to the recent crisis.
“For no fault, Dr Pujahari is being blamed since he is unable to bear the indiscipline and negligence,” they said.
However all of them suggested the association of the junior doctors (JDA) to withdraw the cease work and come to the negotiating table.
